Padmaavat (2018) Reviews

Padmaavat (2018), most controversial Bollywood movie of 2017 got finally released in January 2018 after many controversies, agitations and threats. Final verdict now is with the audience and more or less with mixed audience reviews and almost positive critic and media reviews, audience appreciated not just the story-line but also the powerful performances by the star cast, especially Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. The acting and looks of Ranveer Singh were not just depicting the cruel and shrewd character, even the dialogues and cinematography was finely presented to match the overall script. Deepika Padukone as Padmavati is stunning and Shahid Kapoor as the Rajput Ruler, Raja Ratan Singh is equally convincing. Especially in the sequences where he is confronted with Allaudin Khilji, his mystic smile and powerful dialogue delivery played the magic.

Ratings and Reviews

Public applauds the Sanjay Leela Bhansali Film while denouncing protests, Times of India, several viewers also compared it to SS Rajamouli epic ‘Baahubali’ and quoted, “After Baahubali, if you would love to watch a movie like that, then it’s definitely Padmaavat (4 Stars : ****)

The acting was awesome and not just the story-line is gripping but especially thumbs up to powerful performance by Ranveer Singh as cruel deadly Alauddin Khilji. After viewing the movie, first thing which came in my mind was that what all the controversy was about, wherein the movie just praises Rajput’s valour and grandeur from beginning to end. Infact Shahid Kapur as Ratan Singh is an overdose of Virtues and Rajput’s Aan-Baan-Shaan in the movie, quoted by Komal Chauhan

Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone’s film is extravagant spectacle, Hindustan Times

Bollywood Hungama: O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G. It’s a MASTERPIECE. Padmaavat is a remarkable motion picture experience

CNN-News18: Padmaavat Movie Review: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Visual Spectacle Belongs To Ranveer Singh

So the final verdict, critic reviews and audience reviews proves it all – Padmaavat is truly an art masterpiece and giving new dimensions to Bollywood film-making where overall perfection keeps your audience on their seats and return with an overall experience. Padmaavat is classic piece of Bhansali’s direction and strong performances by Ranveer, Deepika nd Shahid creates the magic. Truly Sanjay Leela Bhansali who had gone through the lot of road-blocks and hurdles in getting it on screens now finally deserves a praise for coming up with such a magnificent masterpiece.

Irony of Padmaavat is that it depicts Alauddin Khilji as a true monster in the movie whereas he had certain credits in his reign for saving the country from the deadly and fierce Mongol invasion. Movie from beginning till end depicts Khilji as a monster, role perfectly played by Ranveer Singh with a dark shade and character in every single glipmse. Fight sequence between Ratan Singh and Khilji towards the end is fabulous; Towards the end Jauhar scenes by Deepika (Padmavati) and other women keeps the audience still and silent. Magical smile of Ratan Singh (Shahid) and his soft spoken character is in total contrast with Khilji (Ranveer) and scenes and sets are managed with perfection.
